BISR, in cooperation with the Project Office of the President of the Russian Federation — the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), is implementing the project «Industrial and Patriotic Tourism».
The outcome of the project to develop industrial tourism in the Republic of Belarus, with an emphasis on patriotic education of youth, has been the publication of a guide to industrial tourism of the Union State entitled «Two Countries, Thousands of Factories».
The theme of industrial tourism contributes to shaping the country’s image and promoting its intellectual and industrial potential. At the same time, the Belarusian approach is based not on copying Russian practices, but primarily on Belarusian specifics and accumulated experience. MTZ served as the flagship platform, where the process of establishing a Centre for the Development of Industrial Tourism in Belarus has been launched.
The project originated from a trend identified by BISR during its regional work: growing youth scepticism towards Belarusian enterprises, young people’s disconnection from understanding production processes, and the low popularity of “factory” professions. The development of industrial tourism can serve as an incentive for establishing exemplary order at enterprises and for systematic career guidance for youth, while the promotion of specific examples will contribute to further Union State integration, industrial cooperation, and regional development.
