On July 17, 2025, the BISR delegation headed by Deputy Director Vitaly Punchenko visited the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, a leading research organization in the field of humanities and social sciences in China. The subject of the expert seminar was the bilateral Belarus-China relations and the joint contribution of the two countries to the world anti-fascist war.
Professor Sun Zhuangzhi, Director of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies, spoke about the current research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on the subject of Eastern European countries. The professor noted that the development of cooperation with Belarus takes place at a special time of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
Vitaly Punchenko introduced the seminar participants to the main activities of the BISR, current sociological research, as well as projects in the field of regional monitoring, the value matrix of the Belarusian society, the youth analytical movement and historical memory.
Professor Zhao Huizhong, Head of the Department of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova and the Baltic States, emphasized the effectiveness of bilateral expert diplomacy with the Belarusian expert community. In her opinion, the long-term cooperation of experts from the two countries makes a significant contribution to the development of Belarus-China relations.
Ekaterina Rechits made a presentation on expert and analytical support for the five-year programs of socio-economic development of Belarus. The analyst put forward the thesis about the importance of embedding research into the decision-making system and involving society in their implementation.
The seminar discussed the relevant international and regional issues, prospects for joint scientific research and expert cooperation. The parties agreed to continue the dialogue on topics of mutual interest.
