Participation of a BISR Analyst in a High-Level Expert Event

At the invitation of Indian partners, BISR analyst Yuri Yarmolinsky, Head of the Center for SCO and BRICS Studies, participated on 13 October 2025 in Dubai in a strategic roundtable entitled “Rethinking Connectivity: New Geographies, New Markets, New Infrastructure”. The event explored innovative partnership formats in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The event brought together politicians, scholars, members of the expert community and civil society, as well as representatives of multilateral organisations. The discussion was focused on three key interconnected themes: interconnectedness and the future of logistics, infrastructure financing, and effective supply chains for critical minerals.

The meeting was organised by India’s leading think tank, the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), together with its Middle East division (ORF Middle East), the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT), and the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC).

It should be noted that in 2026 ORF will chair the BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC). In turn, in accordance with the Head of State–approved “Strategy for Implementing the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Belarus within BRICS Activities”, BISR is exploring the prospect of obtaining official membership in the BTTC.

In the second part of the event, themed “BRICS Reshapes Global Perspectives in Turbulent Times”, Yuri Yarmolinsky delivered a brief informational statement, in which he presented, among other things, the activities and initiatives of the Center for SCO and BRICS Studies.

For Reference:

The BRICS Think Tank Council (BTTC) was established in 2013 and is the largest international dialogue platform, uniting representatives of leading research institutes and think tanks from member and partner countries. Every year, the BTTC organises an Academic Forum, serving as an expert platform for generating ideas and proposals on pressing issues in global politics, economics, and development.

Thus, BISR’s participation in the international expert event in the UAE, in addition to addressing practical objectives, serves the purpose of gradual integration into the BRICS expert community.
