It is already obvious today that the world has entered a phase of geopolitical transformation: the old world order, formed after the WWII, is undergoing drastic changes. This is primarily caused by a global public demand, which has emerged as a result of the inability of the traditional elites of different countries to solve the accumulated global and local problems. This can be seen in the example of the results of the electoral campaigns held in 2024, including the most important possible consequences of the US presidential election, which led to the victory of Donald Trump. Even before taking office, the US president literally shocked the world with statements about his readiness for actions that could give a powerful impetus to the current trend towards the transformation of the world order.
According to forecast estimates for 2025, the trend towards a change of ruling circles will increase: in Europe alone, elections of various levels, from presidential to local, will be held in 13 countries during the year. Many of them are united by the tendency of the increasing influence of right-wing forces declaring their readiness for decisive action.
As historical experience shows, during geopolitical turbulence, those countries and unions succeed that are able to find a balance between the stability of their chosen political and economic course and the ability to respond to emerging new challenges and opportunities, taking advantage of them.
The Union State has found a balance between stability and responding to new challenges.
Examples of such a balance are, of course, Belarus and Russia, both separately and together within the framework of the Union State. An excellent indicator of internal stability and national unity in our countries is the presidential elections held in March 2024 in Russia and in January 2025 in Belarus. Both nations have clearly demonstrated the irrelevance in our countries of the revolutionary dangerous populist demand for a change of elites and confirmed their agreement with the course chosen by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, one of the most important components of which is the union integration of Belarus and Russia.
Over the course of 25 years, Belarus and Russia have gradually built a single economic and social space of the Union State based on the principles of unconditional preservation of state sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two countries are effectively developing cooperation in energy, transport, industrial cooperation, including import substitution, security and many other sectors. All these areas have a direct impact on the lives of ordinary citizens.
Some features of the integration of the Union State have no analogues - the Union budget and union ownership (of infrastructure facilities, intellectual products), which are not yet typical of other integration structures. The Union State budget finances union programs in a wide variety of areas. Our countries have also created a single defense space that will reliably protect the border of the Union State. Common protective measures have been created on the diplomatic track thanks to the unity of views on foreign policy issues and common approaches to the protection of historical memory.
The Union State, unlike, for example, the European Union, which is carried away by solar panels and wind turbines, has placed its bets on the development and modernization of sustainable and reliable energy sources. In particular, two power units of the Belarusian NPP are currently operating in Belarus. Electricity today is the "blood" of the most modern sectors of the economy: artificial intelligence, digitalization, electric transport and others. The Baltic countries, having recently disconnected from the BRELL ring and deprived themselves of the opportunity for a modern transformation of their economies, will eventually realize the error of their actions.
Over the 25 years of union construction, an impressive amount of work has been done, many successful projects have been implemented, but the potential for cooperation between Belarus and Russia in many areas, primarily the economy, still remains enormous. The realization of this potential, as well as the future of the Union State, is seen as inextricably linked with global multipolarity.
Belarus and Russia remain open to constructive cooperation with the whole world.
Belarus and Russia remain open to constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with the whole world. Commitment to this course was recently reaffirmed by the Belarusian President as he was answering questions from journalists during a press conference at a polling station. Alexander Lukashenko noted that Minsk is "looking for a foothold all over the world."
Openness to working with the entire world and the inevitability of normalizing relations with the West was confirmed several times by the President of Russia. At the plenary session of the XXI annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, Vladimir Putin stressed: "Unlike our opponents, Russia does not perceive Western civilization as an enemy, does not raise the question: us or them. I repeat once again: "whoever is not with us is against us" - we never say that."
The well-being of citizens, the high standard of living and well-being of our countries from the capitals to the regions, the development of industry and technology, modern and convenient infrastructure can make the Union State truly resistant to any geopolitical challenges and threats, attractive to millions of people.
