Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, at the invitation of the management of the National Institute for Strategic Research of Ukraine (NISR), held a meeting with the director of this organization Oleksandr Lytvynenko, the Belarusian diplomatic mission reported.
"The parties discussed the matters of establishing cooperation with the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR)," the Embassy said.
In addition, Sokol and Litvinenko exchanged views on a wide range of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations, including the upcoming Regional Forum in Zhytomyr. They also touched upon the state of affairs in the trade and economic sphere and the development of partnership between the regions.
As reported earlier, the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) was established in February this year to replace the Information and Analytical Centre (IAC).
The BISR was established to provide information and analytical support for the activities of government agencies in strategic areas of foreign and home policy.
The Institute is also aimed at improving public policy in various areas and should take part in the coordination of strategic planning documents (doctrines, strategies, concepts) developed by public authorities.
The BISR is headed by Oleg Makarov, formerly Head of Information and Analytical Department of the State Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus.
