Belarus is acceding what is called the SCO family - a space where there are no dividing lines, there are no leaders and slaves. And where no one imposes their standards, their ideas and models of lifestyle on anyone. This was stated in Minsk by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Deputy Secretary-General Grigory Logvinov before the start of the round table "SCO Expert Track: Prospects and Opportunities for Belarus", held at the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research.
In communication with Belarusian journalists , the SCO Deputy Secretary-General emphasized:
- Belarus is joining what is called the SCO family. That is, Belarus is already fully legally entering a space where there are no dividing lines, no masters and slaves, and where no one imposes their standards, their ideas and models of lifestyle on anyone. This is first of all. Belarus is acceding an organization that is always ready to lend a shoulder, not put its foot. And the SCO, which promptly and immediately provided moral and political support to the authorities of Kazakhstan during the well-known January riots, showed that it is able to quickly and significantly take the side of its members.
At the same time , Grigory Logvinov noticed:
-As for material cooperation, Belarus is becoming a participant in a huge number of programs - currency, transport, logistics, environmental, scientific and technical. — Moreover, Belarus has already shown quite convincingly (at least to those who have retained the ability to take an objective view of reality) that it is not a backwater potato field, but a powerful state with a high and powerful scientific and technical potential, which can all the more be implemented in the SCO format.
Grigory Logvinov is a Russian diplomat, has been in the diplomatic service since 1979. He worked in various positions in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and the Russian Federation, as well as in embassies in China and the United States. In 2016-2019 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Australia and concurrently to Vanuatu, Nauru, Tuvalu and Fiji. Since June 2019 - Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He has the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, speaks Chinese, English and German. Speaking about the goals of coming to Minsk, he said:
- My immediate goal is to take part in the opening of the 29th session of the TIBO Forum and the 5th session of the Eurasian Digital Forum. However, based on my interests and mandate as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Deputy Secretary-General, I also tried to hold consultations in the CIS Executive Committee with First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Leonid Anfimov, as well as to hold meetings in several academic and educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
As BISR explained to the sb.by portal, the visit of SCO Deputy Secretary-General Grigory Logvinov to Belarus took place as a follow-up to the preliminary agreements reached during the participation of the BISR delegation in the SCO Analytical Centers International Conference (New Delhi, March 23-25, 2023), organized by the Indian Council of World Affairs. The round table "SCO Expert Track: Prospects and Opportunities for Belarus" was the first in 2023 among a number of other thematic platforms organized by the BISR on the eve of the upcoming acquisition by the Republic of Belarus of the SCO full member status. The event planned to discuss the issues of the SCO expert dimension in the context of the BISR's accompanying plans for integration into its expert advisory mechanisms, as well as other relevant aspects of the Organization's functioning.
