The Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research has gone through a difficult path of formation and was able to become one of the most authoritative structures in our country. This was stated today by the Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus Igor Sergeenko during a meeting with the staff of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research.
Opening the meeting, the Head of the Presidential Administration noted that he would like to build it on the discussion of two blocks: what are the BISR's achievements, what is positive, and what needs to be worked on. Igor Sergeenko mentioned many important tasks implemented by the Institute, especially noting the analytical materials prepared by BISR on economic and political processes in our country and abroad, organization of sociological studies, creation of its own online technology of opinion polls and many other aspects.
– An important stage of the Institute's work was the creation of regional offices, resulting in improving the quality of work. In the regions, employees of executive committees of various levels speak positively about activities of the Institute and use your terminology. The staff of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies also worked quickly on a single voting day. The presence of the Institute's analytics in the media space of our country has significantly increased.
At the same time, Igor Sergeenko stressed:
– But the most important thing is that an effective staff with serious scientific potential has been formed. People came from different industries, spheres, higher education institutions, research centers, authorities and administrations. Professional growth, further movement should be constant for you. The team is currently able to solve complex tasks in a limited time.
The Head of the Presidential Administration noted the difficult external conditions in which our country has to work and develop today:
– The international security system has completely degraded, the country is under unprecedented sanctions pressure, attempts are continuing to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus from the outside. The situation near our borders is not an easy one. Destructive resources actively spread disinformation, which is difficult for an ordinary person and sometimes for specialists to understand. All this is being done to destabilize the situation in the country.
Addressing the BISR staff, Igor Sergeenko called for active participation in the development of tools to counteract sanctions policy, to be more active in the international sphere: analysis of the situation in specific countries will always be in demand. These materials are used to build bilateral relations and, in general, in the implementation of the state's foreign policy. An important place is occupied by the analysis of processes in Belarusian society, the identification of factors affecting the moods of citizens and their social well-being. It is also necessary to study the problems and threats to the state and society even more closely:
– And not only as a statement of facts and events, but also with the development of proposals that will help to find solutions to problems and move forward. Especially in the socio-political sphere. This area should be paid more attention. Without detracting from life.
Igor Sergeenko stressed:
– BISR should become a "talent foundry" for government agencies and the Presidential Administration. It is necessary to work more closely with the departments of the Presidential Administration. The Institute has gone through a difficult path of formation and was able to become one of the most authoritative structures in Belarus. Analytics of such level are demanded in the country.
In the course of the meeting, there was a solemn ceremony of awarding employees of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research with a Certificate of Honor from the Presidential Administration – it was given to BISR analyst Yuri Yarmolinsky. Gratitude of the Head of the Presidential Administration was announced to the Institute's employees Oleg Samoukin, Olga Lazorkina, Oleg Koropov and Alexey Volkov.
Welcoming addresses from the Chairman of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova, Secretary of State of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich, and Foreign Minister Sergei Aleynik were also read out. The BISR staff were also given awards from the Council of Ministers.
The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies is a think tank established by the President of the Republic of Belarus on February 12, 2019 in order to provide information and analytical support for the activities of state bodies and officials in strategic areas of foreign and domestic policy. In its activities, BISR cooperates with scientific organizations, analytical institutes and centers (analytical departments of legal entities), institutions of higher education (including in foreign countries) on the development of scientific research and training of highly qualified scientists. The Institute also develops recommendations on the use of research results and promotes their practical implementation.
