BISR is a well-known institute not only in the SCO space, but also far beyond. This was said by the SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev to reporters at the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research. The SCO Secretary General heads the SCO observer mission to monitor the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus.
"I am very pleased to visit the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research," he said. "This is a well-known institute not only in the SCO space, but also far beyond. Recently, since 2024, the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research has been defined as a National Research Center in the SCO Forum. This platform is engaged in research and analytical work not only in the interests of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but also in a broader international context: it studies the international situation, identifies trends in its development and, most importantly, develops proposals for further development of cooperation in the SCO.
According to the SCO Secretary General, the BISR, as the SCO National Research Center, is already participating in these events:
— We expect that this year the BISR will actively participate in the meeting of the SCO forum, as well as in the work of the Consortium of SCO Economic Analytical Centers. The two forums represent a very important area of activity for the SCO member states and partners — the so-called second track and analytical scientific justification for ensuring the Shanghai Cooperation Organization activities.
Nurlan Yermekbayev also added that he was very pleased that the first event of the SCO delegation's visit was a visit to the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research:
— I think we have a lot to talk about, there are issues on which we can exchange opinions. To ensure that our cooperation brings practical benefits to all SCO member states.
