Belarusians continue to maintain deep respect for the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War. This is confirmed by the results of a national survey, according to which the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi occupation is considered the most significant event for the majority of the country's residents. The contribution of the Belarusian people to the victory over fascism evokes a sense of pride in the majority of Belarusians.
Doctor of Sociological Sciences, BISR analyst Ekaterina Rezanova, noted that the consistent implementation of historical policy in Belarus has shaped Belarusians' perception of their country as one of the main keepers of the memory of the Great Patriotic War. Belarusians actively participate in events dedicated to this topic: they visit memorials, monuments, museums (48.9%), participate in mass events such as Victory Day and Independence Day (44.1%).

As for the preservation of Soviet-era monuments, Belarusians unequivocally condemn the demolition of such monuments in neighboring countries such as Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic states.
As for measures to preserve the memory of difficult events of the Great Patriotic War, the most effective, in the opinion of the majority, is considered to be the improvement of monuments, memorial complexes and military graves.
The youth of Belarus also understands the importance of preserving historical memory and actively supports initiatives such as the creating virtual museums and archives, historical reconstructions and festivals, as well as the development of the volunteer movement and civil projects dedicated to military events.
Special attention should be paid to the issues of military-patriotic education of young people. This is the most important aspect of maintaining the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War, forming pride for our country and the spiritual development of Belarus in the future.
