As part of a working visit to the Republic of Belarus by a delegation headed by Chen Zhou, Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, an expert seminar was held at the BISR site with the participation of Belarusian analysts and researchers, diplomats and representatives of government bodies.
The event participants, in the spirit of the Belarusian-Chinese all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, discussed the prospects of bilateral relations between Minsk and Beijing, paying special attention to the exchange of experience in the fields of political construction, methodology of sociological research, expert diplomacy, and interregional cooperation.
In particular, the BISR managers and analysts presented certain key areas of research and work, given the mutual interest in the study of society on the part of Belarusian and Chinese research centers.
On the eve of the VII All-Belarusian National Assembly, the event participants discussed the importance of this supreme representative body of of the people's power as a new element of the political system of Belarus. According to BISR analysts, giving the constitutional status to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly is of a historical nature and will be the final step in the in the process of building a new political system in our country, which will retain historical continuity, take into account global trends and at the same time include new components: broad involvement of citizens, a new quality of confidence and a culture of participation in the political process.
While presenting the BISR analytical project "Social Portrait of Belarusian Society", the main trends in the dynamics of social and political processes were outlined: national and state identity, key values and requests of Belarusians, their attitude to global trends and the international situation, ideas about optimal principles and models of interaction between society and the state.
The Chinese side was also briefed about outcomes of the "Belarus and China: Common Development Trajectory" project, including the successful strengthening of multi-level ties between BISR and Chinese research centers of national and regional scale, active cooperation with diplomatic institutions of Belarus and China, and the results of visits of BISR analysts to China.
The seminar participants expressed confidence that the fruitful expert communication that took place will make a significant contribution to the further development and harmonization of the Belarusian-Chinese partnership.
