On April 15, BISR analysts, at the invitation of the BRICS Expert Council (RF), took part online in the thematic round table session "Africa and BRICS: History and Prospects", held in Moscow at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University).
In the course of the expert event, the main milestones in the development of BRICS-Africa relations, their current state and future prospects were discussed. Also, the opportunities of using BRICS as a platform for representing Africa's interests on the world stage as a whole were considered.
The round table participants came to the conclusion that BRICS expansion opens a new chapter in cooperation with African countries. The 2023 Johannesburg Summit showed that the continent plays an important role in the BRICS global strategy and its involvement in the unification is gaining momentum. In this regard, it is important to determine the configuration and strategic view of the long-term development of relations between BRICS and Africa.
