A socio-political marathon "17 Facets of Unity", initiated by the Belaya Rus Public Association and timed to the National Unity Day, was held in the republican sanatorium "Belaya Vezha" in the Kamenets district.
The moderator and one of the speakers of the marathon was the head of the BISR department for Brest region, Candidate of Political Sciences Eduard Severin.
The participants of the event talked about the essence of the National Unity holiday, the history of the Belarusian statehood, the patriotic values of our people, the national idea, threats to sovereignty and global challenges of our time. Experts noted that it is extremely important for the Belarusian society to convey truthful and reliable information.
«The theme of national unity is literally inexhaustible, because thanks to history, new and new facets of it are opening up. When we talk about unity in politics, we mean first of all consent. When we talk about the economy, we are talking about the fact that joining common efforts enable us to achieve certain results», - Eduard Severin emphasized.
During the open dialogue, topical issues related to the future of Belarus and the transformation of its political system were raised. In the conditions of the dynamically changing international situation, the special importance of the unity of the Belarusian people for the preservation of peace in all its manifestations was emphasized, the need to stand in the contradictions, conflicts and frictions of political reality was pointed out.
«The main message is to show the diversity of the concept of "unity": today we are talking about the unity of the family, efforts to overcome difficult situations for the development of our state. Representatives of over 130 nationalities and 25 religious confessions live on the territory of Belarus. And, probably, historical experience allows us to preserve both confessional peace and interethnic peace, as well as to understand that unity is the key to sovereignty and independence, peace, security and creativity»,the analyst concluded.
