On the second day of the 18th meeting of the of the SCO Forum in Dushanbe, the BISR Director Oleg Makarov took part in thematic panel discussions.
The meeting ended with the signing of the final protocol and with the ceremony of passing the baton of chairmanship in the SCO Forum (for the period 2023-2024) to the Uzbek side – the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISMI) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
With the new chairman of the SCO Forum, ISMI Director Eldor Aripov, they discussed promising areas for further cooperation, including within the framework of the memorandum signed in Minsk in 2019.
SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming and Director of the Strategic Research Center under the President of Tajikistan Khayriddin Usmonzoda delivered the closing remarks.
After the official events, the BISR delegation took part in a sightseeing tour of the museum of the National Library of Tajikistan, and also got acquainted with the progress of construction work at the Rogun HPP, which is a unique hydraulic engineering facility. It is assumed that after the completion of construction, the dam of this hydroelectric power station with a height of 335 m will be the highest in the world, and the station itself, upon reaching a capacity of 3,600 MW, will become the largest hydroelectric power station in Central Asia.
