On December 23, 2019, the Director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research Oleg Makarov had a meeting with the deputy head of the International Department of the CCP Central Committee Qian Hongshan.
During the meeting, the results of the 4th plenum of the CCP Central Committee of the 19th convocation held in October 2019 in Beijing were discussed. The plenum was dedicated to the modernization of the socialist system and the system of the PRC government, the direction for the expansion of the Belarus-China cooperation, topical issues of the international agenda.
In his opening speech, Oleg Makarov stressed out the interest of Belarus in expanding the scientific and expert relations and practical cooperation with Chinese colleagues on the strategic directions of bilateral relations: "Relations between Belarus and China are on the rise, there is significant potential for reaching a new level of development. We believe that our joint activities will be extremely useful for the progress in the cooperation between the two countries. It is very important for Belarus to mobilize the community of experts to ensure better understanding of the global trends and processes in China, for strengthening the Belarusian-Chinese friendship through analytical diplomacy".
In his turn, the head of the Chinese delegation, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Qian Hongshan, noted that in the context of global transformations, the economic recession in the world markets, the development of information and communication technologies and the growth of populism in the policy of preservation of the power of the people in China and further development of the socialist system with Chinese specifics are the key advantages of China, which provide citizens with the opportunity of sharing the results of the country development.
The parties have agreed to continue the cooperation of the BISR with the Center for the Study of the Modern World at the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, including the creation of teamwork within the Association of Think Tanks of the Silk Road.
