June 29th, Minsk /BELTA rep./. The experts from Belarus and Uzbekistan discussed the development of the industrial cooperation and logistics between the two countries, the BELTA reports.
The panel discussion “Belarus and Uzbekistan: the New Interaction Vectors” including the experts from the two countries was held in the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research. Analyst of the BISR Anton Dudaronak pointed out that the meeting was held for the preparation of the soon-to-be-expected visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus. “We have discussed three directions of our interaction: cooperation in the industrial sector and agricultural complex, logistics and new technologies,” Anton Dudaronak highlighted.
He reminded that the joint Belarusian and Uzbek tractor assembly factory in Tashkent has already been working. Also, the two countries have mutual interests in ensuring the food security and in the cooperation in the agritechnology field. “There is a very close partnership in the education field. So, the number of Uzbek students receiving education in Belarus has been significantly increased since 2017. All of this shows that our relations have the future and that our economies are complimentary,” the analyst underlined.
Head of the sector of the Agency of Strategic Development and Reforms under the Uzbekistan President Bekzod Kurbanov specified that the Belarusian party has strongly developed agricultural industry. “It may be acknowledged separately that Belarus has achievements in the medicine and agricultural sectors. Uzbekistan has a quite large domestic market, a niche for the Belarusian producers to occupy. Moreover, we are building a good cooperation in the Central Asia region. The megaprojects of regional scale can be implemented on the platform of Uzbekistan,” Bekzod Kurbanov emphasised.
Minister of Economy Juryj Chabatar together with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan in Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov were present at the event. “The relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are developing highly dynamically. The interaction covers almost all the sectors. The economy remains one of the main directions. There are no problems in the politics sphere between our countries,” the ambassador stated.
As an example of the dynamic development of the interaction between the two countries, he provided an increase in the commodity turnover. “If in 2018 the commodity turnover between Belarus and Uzbekistan was about $200 million, then last year it amounted up to $1 billion. And this is not the end point,” Rakhmatulla Nazarov concluded.
As the BELTA reported, the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Minsk will be held on 8th and 9th of July.
