On June 15, 2021, BISI held a round table with Chinese think tanks and regional centers for Belarus studies in the format of a video conference "Belarus and China: A Common Development Trajectory".
Welcome addresses were made by BISR Director Oleg Makarov, the Belarus Ambassador to China Yuri Senko and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong. A special guest of the event was the Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Legislation of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, member of the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of the People's Republic of China, Svetlana Lyubetskaya.
The participants discussed the relevant trends in the existing international environment and its impact on China and Belarus, as well as bilateral cooperation in the post-pandemic period. A special feature of the event was the wide geography of participants. Reports were made by Chinese experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangdong, Gansu and Sichuan provinces.
The parties expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation in the field of expert diplomacy, to develop partnership relations between the "think tanks" of the two countries.
The Belarusian side proposed to continue the expert dialogue "Belarus and China: A Common Development Trajectory" on a regular basis.
