As part of the expert interaction, on October 27-28, 2022, BISR analysts took part in the International Scientific Conference "Sociology of Religion in Late Modernity", organized by the Belgorod State National Research University (Russia).
The 11th Scientific Forum (in online format) was focused on the prospects of the relationship between youth and religion. The event was attended by researchers from Russia, Serbia and Belarus. Within the framework of the section of the conference "Religion and Youth in an empirical mirror", analysts Anton Dudarenok and Nikolai Sukhotsky spoke from BISR.
In the report "Religion as a factor of socio-political socialization of youth" Anton Dudarenok noted that the expanding the use of horizontal forms of digital self-organization and network practices affects not only secular, but also religious institutions. At the same time, the religious and value sphere of society retains its relevance and social influence, including on the formation of value and worldview attitudes of young people and the mechanisms of their socio-political socialization, tools for the inclusion of young people in public relations.
Nikolay Sukhotsky in his speech stressed the importance of the strategic direction of modern sociology – the study of the prospects of the relationship between youth and the religious sphere, the position of religion in society and its impact on the younger generation, the attitudes of young men and women to the Church, traditional and new religious organizations and the values promoted by them. The study of the future of religion makes it possible to predict possible changes not only in the cult practice of the population, but also in the worldview of society, the value matrix, which justifies the need for annual expert discussions within the framework of scientific conferences, round tables on this topic.
